Farmsahel is seeking qualified individuals with a background in fundraising, finances, and marketing. Board meetings are usually held on the fourth Friday evening of the month. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about changing the lives of farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.


FarmSahel operates internationally with its headquarters located in Bergenfield, New Jersey. The Board of Directors supports the work of FarmSahel and provides leadership and strategic governance. 

Farmsahel Board of Directors Job Description:

  1. Have a willingness to secure financial support for the organization.

  2. Be an advocate for the organization and its mission within the community.

  3. Serve on at least one board committee.

  4. Provide personal financial support to the organization.

  5. Attend monthly board meetings, prepare for the meetings, review and comment on minutes and reports.

  6. Stay informed about board matters.

  7. Volunteer for and willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time.

  8. Assist with the identification, cultivation and recruitment of potential new Board members.

  9. Participate actively in Farmsahel fundraising and donor cultivation events and educational programs, etc.

  10. Monitor and evaluate the job performance of the Executive Director.

  11. Govern the organization and ensure adequate financial resources and stability.

  12. Be an ambassador for the organization in the community and serve with dignity and professionalism.

  13. Get to know other board members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.

  14. Be an active participant in the board’s annual evaluation and planning efforts.
